Gypsy Art Journal

85.00

Date: Wednesday, July 17th
Time: 9am-2pm

Instructor: Liesel Lund

What do you get when you combine a used hardback book, fabric scraps, trims, decorative tins, ribbon and beads? A luscious journal with pages full of wonder! Come learn how to deconstruct a book, create a spine and tie in the pages. Discover how to age and distress the pages to make it look old. You'll learn how to cut down a decorative tin container (like a cookie or popcorn tin). To create our magical covers, we'll attach tin, fabrics and trims. Your book can have any theme you wish: gypsy, mermaid, pirate, magician, Victorian, nature journal-whatever speaks to you! Create a whole new world in a book! No experience required.

Supply list:

-Hardback book to cut apart
-A decorative tin container that has images you like (think popcorn, cookie or tea tins- often found at thrift stores)
-Paper for your pages. Watercolor, art paper, or writing paper.
-Ribbon, twine, cord or yarn to tie in your pages.
-A pair of garden gloves-ideally with rubber grip palms-these are required to protect your hands when you cut up the tin-it is VERY sharp.
- Tin snips- some garden clippers can work for this--Or you can share the available tools.
Optional: Fabric scraps and trim for your cover.

Supplies provided: Tools, glue, wire, small beads, fabric scraps, paint and paint supplies.
