They look hard. But they just require a little time - and it is so worth it! Handmade books are so beautiful! Learn how to make your own book using your choice of paper. If you love to write, use your favorite writing paper. If you love to sketch, watercolor or collage, use your favorite art paper. You will receive instructions on two different styles of binding - though in class you will only have time to do one of them. Through demonstrations and samples, Liesel will walk you through how to stitch your book. She will also demonstrate ideas for decorating your covers. You will head home with a book ready to fill! Handmade books also make great gifts for the creative people in your life.

Supply List: Covers- bring two canvas boards the same size OR a hard back book to use the covers of. Paper - bring whatever kind of paper you love. Make sure the width of the paper is twice the width of your cover and the same height as the cover or less. You may cut down your paper ahead of time, or use the tear bars in class. I use 140lb watercolor paper for my art books. Hot press is smooth, better for sketching and writing, cold press is textured and great for watercolor. Both handle collage and acrylic paint well. Handout with detailed instructions, tools, binding thread and supplies for decorating are provided.
